PSetting Overview & Usage: Advanced Settings
PSetting offers some advanced features and options for Delphi power users.
The first (and most obvious) advanced feature is on the Advanced tab of the
component editor. On this page you will find a list of all the registered component
types. Similar to the Properties selection, the advanced lists allow you
to select any property of any component type. Then, whenever you add a new
component of that type to your forms, the selected properties for that component type
are automatically selected for the new component. For example, if you choose the
Text property of the TEdit component on the advanced selection page,
every TEdit that you add to your form after that will automatically maintained
by PSetting.
Give me more. Okay. PSetting not only allows you to
automatically save run-time state in the Registry, you may also use any generic
TStream or IStorage (OLE compound document). So, if you are writing a new editor,
you can save document-specific settings like fonts, cursor locations, author information,
etc., within the document itself. Since PSetting knows how to save information
in TStreams, you can also save user-specific information in database BLOBs residing
on remote databases. PSetting doesn't corner you into a single solution. PSetting
is generic enough to adapt to the needs of all types of applications and developers.
If generic file access and Registry access isn't enough, PSetting also allows you
to write your own storage mechanism using run-time events.
And finally... PSetting is flexible enough to handle
all types of state-management needs. Make your application stand above the
rest. Give your users flexibility and power without sacrificing your deadlines
or your sanity. Get PSetting now.
